5 Ways to Keep Your Gums Healthy

  4. Rinse your mouth with a therapeutic mouthwash:Therapeutic mouthwashes with an ADA seal contain ingredients that can help reduce the buildup of tartar and plaque and prevent the occurrence of gingivitis. A rinse using a therapeutic mouthwash that contains chlorhexidine, fluoride, peroxide, or cetylpyridinium chloride can help keep the breath fresh and remove food particles and debris from your mouth. 
  5. Quit Smoking:In case you smoke, quit the habit. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that smokers are almost two times at an increased risk for periodontal disease than non-smokers. Besides, smokers have a weakened immune system than non-smokers, making it more difficult for the body to battle gum disease.
